Wildlife in the city – brown hyena

Interesting visitor to our city this week, a very lost baby brown hyena.  This animal covered an amazing amount of ground during her sojourn, from Northcliff to Delta Park with a turn through the Randburg civic centre in between.  This is an immense distance, full of traffic, suburban dogs and other perils.  She was darted and taken to the zoo for treatment.  it is suspected that she may be the cub of one of two hyena that were spotted in Roodepoort on Friday.  Once her paws recover from Joburg’s mean streets, the zoo hope to return her to her clan.

All together now, awwwwww.
