Don’t trust your bank – even if you call them

I called my bank for some assistance with their new website, I was trying to move some money from one account into another.  The lady who answered the phone asked me if I had my bank card.  I was puzzled, as I wasn’t moving money out of that account.  She said she would transfer me to her supervisor and I would have to give him my card number and PIN.  Great big jangling alarm bells!!!!  As she tried to transfer me, she cut me off.

I called the bank’s Fraud line, they confirmed it was odd to say the least and that they would investigate.

One of two things, either the lady is running a scam inside the bank, or the IT department have published a number that connects to scamsters outside the building.

So be careful out there, never give anyone your PIN, not even your bank.  Criminals work for banks too.
